The MAVECAM company will invest 12 billion FCFA for the production of 25,000 tonnes of fish in 10 years.

MAVECAM is a Cameroonian company specializing in the development of livestock and agriculture projects, it envisages an annual production of 3000 tonnes of Tilapia, 2000 tonnes of clarias and 1000 tonnes of shrimp over 10 years, the company then requests the government support to achieve this.

On August 25, a delegation from the company was received in audience at the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries, by the head of the said ministerial department, Dr Taïga and his team. During this hearing, the discussions revolved around the development of the piscicultural / aquaculture sector, and the contribution of this structure in the national production of fishery resources.

The state invested in the project initiated by MAVECAM to reduce the rate of importation of haleutical resources.

The overall envelope intended for the realization of this project is estimated at 12.28 billion FCFA, the expenditure will be phased in several stages that the company is still keeping secret. The project should generate 300 direct jobs and 1000 indirect jobs in the entire aquaculture value chain in Cameroon, said project should be carried out in 4 departments targeted by MAVECAM, these are then Wouri, Moungo, Sanaga Maritime and the Ocean. According to MINEPIA data, Cameroon pays an average of CFAF 100 billion each year for the import of fish, which negatively impacts the state budget, hence the importance of large-scale local production for a considerable reduction. of this state expenditure.
